Host a free dress day.  Determine a contribution amount; the student is free from wearing a uniform that day. Determine one week or one  month when students will earn money by their own means and give it to the missions. One pre-school class asked children to bring one penny each day of class--to see what that many pennies look like.
Bake sales work nicely.  Everyone likes to eat.
Host an international day.  Provide ethnic food for sale, arrange for ethnic dress, music, dance, and stories. Choose nickles, dimes, or quarters for measuring.  The class that can form the longest line of coins wins "something."
Measure coins to match the height of the teacher, the favorite classroom stuffed toy, the altar.  Have fun with it. During Lent and Advent alert the parents that their child has an HCA collection box so they can help the child fill it.  In your teaching point out the kinds of help that people can give to assist others in need.  Teach justice and love.
Decide on a project to do as a class.  Group momentum helps keep everyone invested better. Let your students design their projects.  They will respond better than if you have everything pre-determined. Let each child bring something from home that is no longer used.  Display them for a "white elephant" sale during recess or lunch.
Some schools choose Halloween for mission carnivals, mission parties, mission lunches, etc.  This can help focus the day toward All Saints. Set a particular day of the week for students to bring their offerings--in connection to prayer, ritual, or some other pattern of raising awareness. Host a relay where students race to drop coins into a can.  Competition can be between classes and distances can be adjusted for age.
