Fr. Joe Miller, SVD Mission Office Director	Message

	Greetings! Memories bring a mind and heart renewed! I can remember when I was a student in 5th & 6th grades. We sponsored a bake sale once a month to remind us to help children in other parts of the world less fortunate than ourselves. Each grade tried to outdo the other. I remember buying the Brownies that my mom made so that our class would receive recognition. The kids asked me “Why was I buying my mom’s baking?” I clearly recall saying “It’s o.k.. it’s all for the missions anyway!” I can remember as a seminarian before being ordained a priest, giving young people who came for weekend retreats a tour of our chapel. I would always show them the Main altar. There was a plaque attached to it “This altar was donated by the pennies from children of Europe.” I remembered that my little sacrifices years ago also had a great value somewhere around the world. I vividly remember the Mass we celebrated just last March during which we honored our students in both our Catholic schools and Religious Education Programs for their efforts in assisting our missionaries to awakening Jesus in the hearts of Children around the world. How proud you made us feel! The making of a memory! How precious a gift! The power of your prayer; the value of your daily sacrifices along with the projects you become involved in during the year are the ways by which we join with missionaries (Priests, Sisters, Brothers, Lay Missionaries) around the world who work with children and offer them a chance to come to know and celebrate Jesus in their lives.
